FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Think of some problems in your life that have turned out to be blessings. How did they seem originally? What would have happened if you had been able to avoid the problem?

JUST THINKING OUT LOUD

Image
Most of us desire others to be authentic- we want others to be themselves around us and not feel like they have to be fake. But because we are often unaware of how much of an impact we play in keeping others from being open and honest with us- or at least we do not think about it enough -we sabotage such a relationship.  We do not listen closely enough to their needs and concerns or we pass judgment on their thoughts, words, and actions; we fail to take them seriously or make them feel important and valuable.  Our goal as a friend should be simple: to be there as a comfortable companion who is experiencing a similar journey through life- pray with them, no need to fix them, no need to change them, and no need to control them.

REFLECTION

Image
The ladder has many steps leading to the top but only one step leads to the next level; step by step you find yourself at the top. In every area of life, patience is required if you must succeed and sing the conquerors song at last. When answers to prayers don't come as promptly as you desire them, you need patience to persevere and wait for your change to come. Patience will always have the last smile because GOD will always honour those who honour HIM.

THE POSITIVE MIND!

Image
There are a lot of happy people out there. Chances are, you know a few of them. They are those people that just go about life, and no matter what their situation is, they seem to be happy. There doesn’t seem to be a thing on this planet that is able to shake them. They are clearly the ‘glass is always half-full’ types, and it doesn’t seem to matter if it is hot, cold, windy, rainy, sunny, or anything. They can be dealing with the unthinkable in their lives, or they could be running on cloud nine all the time, with life handed to them in a gift wrapped package. There are times you think you can blame your unhappiness and their happiness on what they are doing or given, but then you realize there are those that may be unwell and they are still happy. In fact, they may be dressed well, dressed poorly, rich, poor, struggling… who knows? Yet they always seem to be happy. It is almost as if you can’t bring them down even if you tried. Of course there are the other peopl

A POOR BOY AND THE DOG

Image
A few days ago I landed at the Bombay Airport (India) and took a cab to my scheduled destination in South Bombay. I was enjoying the busy traffic with people rushing in every possible directions then we got stranded at a very busy intersection. As we waited for the signal to turn green, my eyes met up with a poor young boy, about 12 years old. He removed a piece of bread from his pocket and took a bite. As he was about to take his next bite, a stray dog wagged his tail looking at him. Without hesitation, he sat down and put the bread on the road for the dog to eat. The dog sniffed the bread and walked away. The boy waited until he was sure the dog was gone then he picked up the bread and ate it! My heart cried and wanted to walk up to the boy but before I could open the door the signal turned Green and our car drove away. I kept thinking about the boy and later during my evening meal I realized that I was thinking of approaching the boy but never did, I could

Deliberately seeking solitude-quality time spent away from family and friends- may seem selfish. It is not! Solitude is as necessary for our creative spirits to develop and flourish as are sleep and food for our bodies to survive.

REFLECTION

Our lives truly become richer when we treasure each moment within them. And it is our act of cherishing and appreciating them that truly makes them into the very treasures that they have the potential to be.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

If you are not sure of what makes you happy, or know how to make yourself happy, you are never going to achieve that happiness. You think that it is impossible for us to be unhappy if you get that one thing that you have been longing for, but you don’t stop to think of how it always works out in the end. Happiness is a state of being, and does not have anything to do with what you have or what you don't have!

THE POWER AND BEAUTY OF PATIENCE"

Image
So many of our failures and deficiencies in life were/are a result of our impatience, of our aversion toward taking our time and allowing things to come to fruition. But life works in its own time. And not only does impatience rarely lead to the desired result, it also breeds stress, anger, frustration, and a whole slew of negative emotions that are straight-up bad for our health.  A lot of people get frustrated while learning  new things/skills- to read, to write, to ride a bike, to swim, to play the piano, to solve a puzzle, to fish, even to give their children a very good training etc, and want to call it quits because they feel they are not good enough after only a few attempts. Here is a wonderful reminder that you have your whole lifetime ahead of you to learn anything you want to learn; and that practice over time yields positive and measurable results.  Patience is a virtue. And despite all the influences in our lives trying to convince us that things need to b

YOUR OBSTACLE VERSUS YOUR MIRACLE

Image
Our attitude determines our altitude in life. When we experience failure or things do not go our way, we do not have to let it bring us down. Obstacles are not a reason for us to give up, but rather an opportunity for us to learn, to grow, to become something greater than we were before. "So what if my manuscript was rejected. I can write another one!" This is the spirit and mindset of champions; one that acts as a catalyst for personal growth and success.  Writing was a driving force for Anthony Trollope. It was something that he most likely could not have given up even if he wanted to, for he had a natural talent and ability and he was very dedicated to his craft. It was this level of commitment that allowed him--or perhaps forced him--to begin a new novel immediately after being rejected. For you see, that level of commitment to any art helps us to find strength, courage, and determination to persevere in even the most unfavorable of circumstances.  Each of u

TIPS ON HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY FOR A MUCH HAPPIER AND HEALTHIER LIFE....

Image
Eat Healthy Choosing fresh fruits and vegetables as well as lean meat and poultry are much better than eating junk foods, carbonated drinks, and fast foods. By eating healthy, you will receive the nutrients, vitamins, and energy that you need to combat the stress brought by a day’s work. As part of your effort to eat healthy, you should not forget to drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated and to remove toxins from your body. Take Time to Relax No matter how busy your schedule is, it is important that you take a break from the things that make you feel stressed and find time to clear your mind and relax. Whenever you’re at work, taking a break even for just a few minutes can make a big difference in the way you handle your job. Exercise Exercising is an activity that will allow you to rejuvenate yourself. Exercising does not mean that you have to spend hours in the gym. There are certain activities that can help you become fit while still having fun. It is

REFLECTION

I have known individuals who are like ducks when it comes to hurt-it seems that hurtful things simply roll off them and fall harmlessly to the ground, as rain does off the feathers of a duck. They have this beautiful ability to acknowledge the pain felt by those who are spreading the hurt, and express compassion, kindness, love, and forgiveness to those who would wish them harm. Their hearts rest much closer to a place of true love, a place where fear, control, and selfishness do not exist.  The lives we lead are largely defined by the love that exists within us and around us--the love that is given, and the love that is received. And if we can overcome our fear, worries, and doubts, and admit that there is love within us for all things both temporal and spiritual, our lives will be enriched and transformed in ways we cannot even fathom.

TO LOVE AND TO BE LOVED!

Image
Once upon a time …. A very poor man lived with his wife. One day, his wife, who had very long hair asked him to buy her a comb for her hair to grow well and to be well-groomed. The man felt very sorry and said no. He explained that he did not even have enough money to fix the strap of his watch he had just broken. She did not insist on her request. The man went to work and passed by a watch shop, sold his damaged watch at a low price and went to buy a comb for his wife. He came home in the evening with the comb in his hand ready to give to his wife. He was surprised when he saw his wife with a very short hair cut. She had sold her hair and was holding a new watch band. Tears flowed simultaneously from their eyes, not for the futility of their actions, but for the reciprocity of their love. Moral of the story: To love is nothing, to be loved is something but to love and to be loved by the one you love, that is everything!

STICK TO YOUR STORY

Image
Some months ago, I posted a quote that says "if your faith does not annoy people, it is not Faith- you probably may have been faking it. Faith moves mountains dear friend, and not until you start believing the power of your story- by STICKING TO IT, you will remain a slave to what the world calls "reality"- basically what your five senses are saying, seeing, feeling and touching. What is your story? What are you telling yourself everyday when you wake up or look at yourself in the mirror, against the naysayers or the state of the economy or your empty bank accounts or your state of obscurity. What is your story in spite of all these? Your story could be as simple as, I am a success story; I am enjoying a sound health; I see light at the end of the tunnel; I see the infinite; I am abundantly supplied; all my needs are met everyday; I am shining; life treats me good; the Universe favours me; I am rich and loaded and so on.It is as simple as that! IT'S A PRIVILEGE!

Image
Nothing can happen to you that is not positive. Even though it looks and feels at the moment like a negative crisis, it is not! Any disaster that you can survive is an improvement in your character, your stature, and your life. What a privilege! This is when the spontaneity of your own nature will have a chance to flow. Then, when looking back at your life, you will see that the moments which seemed to be great failures followed by wreckage were the incidents that shaped the life you have now. You will see that this is really true! Don't back down!

REFLECTION

Image
I know a woman of ninety-six who has the bright innocent face of a girl. I know a man well under middle age whose face is full of wrinkles.  The one is as a result of a sweet and sunny disposition; while the other is the outcome of passion  and discontent.   As we cannot have a sweet and wholesome abode unless we allow the air and sunshine freely into our rooms, so a strong body and a bright, happy or serene countenance can only result from the free admittance into the mind of thoughts, joy and goodwill and serenity.

LET IT GO. Part 2

Image
Harboring resentment or anger is like trying to sail our ships with the anchors dropped- we are not going to make it far and we are not going to experience much of life. And the only way forward is to let it all go- to acknowledge the hurt and the pain we feel, and then let it take its place in our past where it belongs.  Because as long as we keep it alive and allow it to interfere with our present- giving others power over us and allowing their words or actions to negatively affect us- we will continue to sabotage our happiness in life.

LET IT GO

Image
We cannot move our lives forward with the excess baggage of hurt and anger weighing us down.  Some of us are still mad at old lovers, former teachers, and folks from secondary school or University who did us wrong. When we have painful memories from hurting experiences, we may feel justified in holding on to the resentment. But resentment is corrosive. It does not affect the person we feel anger toward, it destroys the host! The happiness we find in life is dependent primarily on our attitudes and our thoughts. If we consistently harbor negative ones, our happiness will be minimal or fleeting. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance always to remember that whatever we keep in our minds affects us deeply.  If we hold on to feelings of jealousy or resentment, not only are we the cause of our suffering but we essentially are suffering needlessly, and rarely do the thoughts of resentment and anger we harbor within have any effect at all on the individuals with whom we a
