Set good and godly examples for your child. He/She needs to not only hear your rules, but also see you living out what you teach him/her. 

An author once said, "A child is not likely to find a father in GOD unless he finds something of GOD in his father". You are the example for how your child will live his life. He will not live a godly life except you lead him to Christ and model the Christian life before him. And as it is said, you can't give what you don't have. Meaning that you can't lead a good and godly life without being godly.
